PiBoIdMo Day #25: Todd's New Life

Wow, it's getting harder to make the time to write a first draft every day as the month goes on! I don't know how I'm going to manage it tomorrow. Fortunately, the PiBoIdMo blog posts are continuing to give me the ideas.

Today, I took one of AJ Smith's example character arcs, "rags to riches," and turned it around into a story about a boy whose affluent lifestyle takes a dive as a result of his parents' divorce. The story consists mostly of two long lists: first the changes in his life that he's unhappy about, such as...
He used to live in a big house with both his parents. Now he lives in a small apartment with just his mother.
And then a list of things that have actually gotten better, such as...
His father used to be too tired in the evenings to spend much time with him, but now they’re together every weekend.
At the end, he comes to realize that life didn't simply get worse or better, it just changed.
